Established in 2005, Stellenbosch Optometrists has been committed to serving the local community with exceptional eye care services for almost 20 years. PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES:
Photochromic lenses are spectacle lenses that are clear indoors and darken automatically when exposed to sunlight. The molecules responsible for causing them to darken are activated by the sun's ultraviolet radiation. Because UV rays penetrate clouds, photochromic lenses will darken on overcast days as well as sunny days.
Photochromic lenses typically will not darken inside a vehicle because your windshield blocks most UV rays. They are ideal for people spending a lot of their day outdoors, because they will lighten indoors and you therefore only need one pair of spectacles.
POLARISED LENSES:
Polarized sunglasses lenses have a special filter that blocks intense reflected light from the sun, reducing glare and discomfort. At Stellenbosch Optometrist we have polarised lenses in all of our sunglasses ranges with Maui Jim being the most popular choice.

CONTACT LENSES:
Not so fond of spectacles? Contact lenses are a great alternative. With so many varieties to choose from, nearly everyone can wear them. Daily disposable lenses make wearing contacts a breeze — wear them once and throw them away.
Other options include soft contact lenses, lenses for overnight wear, and special-effect contact lenses. At Stellenbosch Optometrist we will advise you on the best contact lenses for your lifestyle and visual needs.
